# Charted > Charted is an AI travel companion — a web app (app.charted.travel) and an iPhone app with the same interface — that follows a trip from the first idea to the last memory: planning at home, living it on the ground, keeping the story afterwards. Made by Northfoundry (Québec, Canada). Launch preview: everything is free while billing is not live; plans announced at https://charted.travel/pricing (Free forever; Connect $6 with the ChatGPT/Claude connectors and live flights; Pro $20; Pro Plus $35; 7 days of Pro to start; Charted credits for AI moments; monthly limits on new Google place look-ups). ## What it does (each item is a real, working feature) - **Home = a world map.** Every trip is a pin on an illustrated world map (eight AI-restyled map themes on a NASA Blue Marble base); the next trip shows its flight path drawn from the real departure airport; past trips fade; filters Upcoming / In Progress / Completed. - **Ask Charted — an AI copilot that knows the screen.** It reads the itinerary, the day on screen and the saved places, and it *acts*: "place these five spots over two days" creates timed items with real travel times, opening hours and a schedule engine; suggestions come back as cards with a photo, rating, distance, an "Add at 13:00" button and purple pins on the map. It learns from past trips (dinner time, day start) and from written preferences. - **A day planner that thinks.** Three columns: day strip + timeline with walking / driving pills, an interactive Google map (routes drawn along real streets, dotted when walking, Street View, satellite), and your saved boards on the right. Ghost hotels ("leaving at 08:37 / back at 22:40"), parking returns, airport transfers, blocks of activities you move as one, a schedule engine that pushes only what has to move and warns when a place is closed. - **Forward any booking.** Send a confirmation email to Charted (or paste it, or photograph it): the hotel, flight, car rental, parking, restaurant table or street-food tour lands in the right trip — confirmed by its confirmation number, illustrated with a real photo, timed — and a designed email comes back with the item card and a timeline of the trip that flags nights without a hotel. - **Import a whole trip from anything.** Text, links, PDFs, screenshots, Word files → a preview you can edit → the trip is created with every place resolved on Google (photo, address, coordinates). - **Five ways to add a trip or a place.** By hand (Google search scoped to the day's city, the card filled in: photos, hours, rating, a one-line description); by asking Charted ("plan this day for me: Monreale in the morning, lunch nearby, then the catacombs" → timed stops with real driving and walking times); through the **Claude and ChatGPT connectors** (MCP server at https://api.charted.travel/mcp with OAuth consent — the assistant lists trips, creates a trip from the plan you made together, adds stops, saves places to a board; it asks before choosing a trip or a board and never sees your password or documents); from **videos and links**; from **email or pasted text**. - **Import places from videos.** Share a TikTok, Instagram reel, YouTube video or Short, Facebook reel or a TripAdvisor page: Charted finds the places it names (caption, voice-over transcription, even text burned into the frames) and saves them to a board — optionally creating the trip at once. - **Live flights.** Gates, terminals, delays and baggage claim refreshed automatically (FlightAware), multi-leg journeys with layovers, a flight tab that appears 24 h before departure, local alerts (the day before, check-in, when to leave for the airport), and an iOS Live Activity on the lock screen / Dynamic Island from 2 h before departure to 60 min after landing. - **Voice guide.** A guide in your ears that narrates the places you pass (prepared on the web day by day: approve, refuse, add points), answers out loud (GPS + compass aware: "what am I looking at?"), and looks at what you photograph. Audio is pre-downloaded so it works offline. - **Maître D — your private sommelier.** Photograph the wine list or the menu; it reads every line, checks where you are, the weather, the moment and your budget, remembers what you liked, and picks for you — 3–4 referenced suggestions with a friendly "why you'll like it".
