Each time Charted finds a place nobody has looked up before — its photos, address, rating and opening hours — it asks Google, and Google charges us a few cents. Places other travelers already looked up are served from Charted's own memory and don't count. The monthly limits keep the lights on and keep bots out; the counter is always visible in the app.
Viewing a trip you've been invited to is free. Companions only need their own plan to create and run their own trips.
